October is always full of celebrations. Halloween. Homecoming. Pumpkin Spice Lattes. October is also a time to check in with yourself and your friends. Below are some protective strategies you can utilize regarding alcohol, watching out for your friends, and planning safe transportation options.

If alcohol use is occurring during your fall celebrations, it is important to remember that the choices you make can have lasting impacts. If you choose to drink, below are some strategies to keep in mind:
                        



Be There For Your Friend

It is important to look out for your friends and have each other’s back. Below is some information if someone needs emergency assistance in a serious or life-threatening situation, particularly where alcohol poisoning or drug overdose is suspected.



Taking care of our friends also means being an active bystander and taking action if you are concerned about someone. 


Ways to Get Home

It’s important to have a number of ways to get home safely at the end of a celebration. Here are some helpful resources:


  •  S.A.F.E. Connection provides transportation service around campus, seven days a week, from 7:00pm-2:30am when classes are in session. Please call (850) 644-SAFE (7233) to request a ride.  
  • Nole Cab offers $5.00 rates for students with an FSU ID. The service is offered Saturday- Thursday 10:00pm-4:00am and Friday 6:00pm-4:00am. You can catch a ride in one of the following ways: text your location to 76922, call Yellow Cab at (850) 999-9999, download and order thru the Ride Yellow mobile app, or hail a Yellow Cab ride from within the Nole Cab Zone
  • The Seminole Express Nite Nole operates Monday through Saturday from 10:30 pm-3:00 am during the fall and spring semesters. Download the TransLoc Rider app or contact Star Metro at (850) 891-5200 for details regarding the bus routes.
